In this episode we see Marcus Rashford in one of his greatest performances during the 2015/16 season against FC Midtjylland. His team; Manchester United were into the last 32 of the Europa League and were facing Midtjylland at home in this 2nd leg, after losing 2-1 away in the 1st leg. He wasn’t supposed to start but as Martial got injured in the warm ups, he had to make his senior debut earlier than expected. Rashford scored the second goal which tied the score 3-3 on aggregate. He then went onto score the ultimate winning goal 12 mins later, which put Midtjylland’s hopes to bed. The game ended 5-1 (6-3 agg.) and United ended up losing in the Last 16 to Liverpool. The 18 year old finished the season with 9 goals and 2 assists for both club and country. Since then, he’s gone on to play over 200 times for United and 38 times for England. Totalling 74 goals and well, the rest is history!

“The Match That Made” is an established series that I started doing back in 2018. The concept is to show the superstars of today, in their best performance of the season before they got signed to a top club. Of course 1 game doesn’t make the player who they are today but those special performances are the ones that catch the eyes of world watching!

Let me know who you would like to see next time on “The Match That Made”!
