In this episode we see Anthony Martial in his greatest performance during the 2014/15 season against Arsenal. His team; Monaco were into the last 16 of the UCL and were facing Arsenal away from home in this 1st leg. This was his 1st ever start in a European game due to Monaco’s suspensions/injuries. Martial assisted the 2nd goal which put Monaco out of sight. Although he didn’t score he was causing mayhem to Arsenal; he had Bellerin on strings all game and should’ve scored himself. The game ended 1-3 and Monaco went on to advance to the Quarters against all odds. The 19 year old finished the season with 14 goals and 5 assists for both club and country. Manchester United signed him that summer for €60M and well, the rest is history!

“The Match That Made” is a new series that I’m experimenting with. The concept is to show the superstars of today, in their best performance of the season before they got signed to a top club. Of course 1 game doesn’t make the player who they are today but those special performances are the ones that catch the eyes of world watching!

Let me know who you would like to see next time on “The Match That Made”!
