In this episode we see Luis Suarez in one his greatest performances during the 2010/11 season against Dynamo Kiev. His team; Ajax had been absent from the UCL group stage since the 2005/06 season and were heading into a crucial qualifying round 2nd leg, tied at 1-1. From the time of kick-off, Suarez was a threat throughout; scoring the opener and being involved in the 2nd. The game ended 2-1 (3-2 agg.) and Ajax secured their place in the UCL for the first time in 5 years. The 23 year old finished with 18 goals and 14 assists for both club and country up until January 2011. Liverpool signed him during the winter window for €26.5M and well, the rest is history!

“The Match That Made” is a new series that I’m experimenting with. The concept is to show the superstars of today, in their best performance of the season before they got signed to a top club. Of course 1 game doesn’t make the player who they are today but those special performances are the ones that catch the eyes of world watching!

Let me know who you would like to see next time on “The Match That Made”!
