In this episode we see Arthur in one of his greatest performances during the 2017 season against Lanus. His team; Gremio were into the Copa Libertadores Final and were facing Lanus away from home in this 2nd leg, after defeating them 1-0 at home in the 1st leg. This was the 1st full season in his career. His great play set Luan away to score the 2nd (3rd on agg.) for Gremio. He bossed the game throughout and was elected by Conmebol the man of match despite playing only 50 minutes due to an injury. The game ended 1-2 (1-3 agg.) and Gremio went on to win the Copa Libertadores for the 1st time in 22 years and 3rd time in their club’s history. Barcelona signed him that summer for €31M and well, the rest is history!

“The Match That Made” is a new series that I’m experimenting with. The concept is to show the superstars of today, in their best performance of the season before they got signed to a top club. Of course 1 game doesn’t make the player who they are today but those special performances are the ones that catch the eyes of world watching!

Let me know who you would like to see next time on “The Match That Made”!
