A Tribute to Johan Cruyff (1947-2016)
(Rest in Peace)

Johan Cruyff has died. 1947-2016.
We lost a legend.

March 24, 2016 is a truly sad day for football.

The great Johan Cruyff has passed away following a short time battling lung cancer.

A simple notice on Cruyff’s official website announced: “On March 24 2016 Johan Cruyff (68) died peacefully in Barcelona, surrounded by his family after a hard fought battle with cancer. It’s with great sadness that we ask you to respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”

Cruyff was a legendary player for Ajax and Barcelona. For the latter he has had a huge impact as both a coach and the instigator of the La Masia youth academy for the Spanish giants.

Much of the football we see today is designed and formulated by many of the thinkings Cruyff developed as a player and a manager.

“Playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is.

RIP Johan Cruyff.
